About this product

Why does Silk+ look so much shinier than regular PLA?
Silk PLA is formulated with additives that create a pearlescent, high-gloss surface as it cools, instead of the semi-matte look of standard PLA. The '+' in Silk+ over older silk formulas generally means improved layer adhesion and toughness compared to first-generation silk filaments, so you get the shine without as much of the added brittleness.
Do I need to slow down my print speed to get the full silk shine?
Silk filaments generally show their best shine at moderate speeds with good part cooling — printing too fast can mute the gloss on tight-detail areas. Since this is AMS-compatible with RFID auto-profile detection, start with Bambu's own Silk+ preset rather than a generic PLA profile, then fine-tune speed if you want maximum shine on a specific model.
Is Silk+ as strong as regular PLA Basic for functional parts?
It's close but not identical — silk-formula PLAs are generally a bit more prone to stringing and slightly less consistent on fine overhangs than basic PLA because of the additives that create the shine. For purely decorative or display prints it's an easy choice; for load-bearing functional parts, PLA Basic or PLA Tough+ is the steadier pick.
How many colors does this come in, and does the spool change per color?
PLA Silk+ ships in over a dozen colors, all with the same reusable-spool packaging and the same embedded RFID tag for AMS auto-detection. Availability varies by color and includes both With Spool and some Refill options, so check the variant selector for what's currently in stock in your preferred shade.

Printer & AMS Compatibility

Bambu filament is RFID-tagged, so AMS reads the type and colour automatically and sets temperatures for you. It also runs on any standard FDM printer that takes 1.75mm filament.

Storage & Drying

Keep filament sealed with desiccant when you're not printing. A fresh, sealed roll doesn't need drying — only dry it if prints start showing stringing or popping after the roll has been open a while.
