Add multicolour and multi-material printing to your Bambu Lab printer with the AMS 2 Pro. It feeds four spools, swaps between them automatically, and dries filament at up to 65 °C in a sealed, humidity-monitored chamber, so your spools stay ready between jobs.

Chain up to four AMS 2 Pro units for 16 spools, or combine them with AMS HT single-spool units for up to 24 filaments in one setup.

Features

  • 65 °C Active Drying – Heats the chamber, pushes moisture out through an active discharge, and rotates the spools so they dry evenly.
  • Sealed Storage – An airtight chamber keeps loaded filament dry between prints.
  • Live Temperature & Humidity – Readings show on the printer screen, in Bambu Studio and in Bambu Handy.
  • Automatic Filament Switching – Clean transitions between colours and materials, plus automatic backup when a spool runs out.
  • RFID Filament Sync – Recognises Bambu Lab spools and loads the right material settings for you.
  • Quiet, Reliable Feeding – A brushless servo feeding motor for long, low-noise service.

Filament Compatibility

  • Prints with: PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PET, PA, PC, PP, POM, HIPS, PVA and BVOH (dried only), Bambu PLA-CF, PAHT-CF, PETG-CF, Support for PLA/PETG and TPU for AMS.
  • Not supported: TPE, generic TPU, damp PVA or BVOH, Bambu PET-CF and TPU 95A, and any other carbon-fibre or glass-fibre filament.
  • Dries fully: PLA, PETG, Support for PLA/PETG and PP.
  • Dries partially: ABS, ASA, PET, PA, PC, PVA, BVOH, POM, HIPS, Bambu PLA-CF, PAHT-CF, PETG-CF and TPU for AMS need more than 65 °C to dry completely. For these, use an AMS HT (up to 85 °C).

Compatibility & Setup

Fits the A1, A1 Mini, A2L, P1P, P1S, P2S, X1C, X1E, X2D, H2D, H2D Pro, H2S and H2C. What else you need depends on your printer and how you use it.

  • X1 Series and P1 Series (X1C, X1E, P1P, P1S): a 6-pin bus cable, a 4-pin bus cable and a Filament Buffer or AMS Hub.
  • A1 and A1 Mini: a 6-pin bus cable, a 4-pin bus cable and the A1 Series AMS Hub, which also handles multi-AMS setups. Do not use a Filament Buffer or any AMS Hub that isn't made for the A1 Series.
  • H2D: works alongside an original AMS on the same printer.

Bambu sells these accessories separately or bundled in an upgrade kit. Feeding never needs an external power adapter; drying might, see below.

Power for Drying

  • H2 Series, P2S and X2D: one AMS 2 Pro can dry on printer power through its 6-pin cable. Every extra unit drying at the same time needs its own AMS 2 Pro Switching Adapter.
    • H2 Series without the adapter: drying runs at 86% power so the print gets priority.
    • P2S and X2D without the adapter: while the AMS 2 Pro dries, the printer can't heat the bed or hotend, move its axes or load filament. Add the adapter and both run with no limits.
  • X1 Series, P1 Series, A1 Series and A2L: every AMS 2 Pro needs its own adapter to dry.
  • Use only the official Bambu Lab adapter (24 V, 4 A). Third-party adapters can damage the unit and are not covered by the warranty.

Good to Know About Drying

  • Dry while you print, on newer printers. The H2D, H2S, P2S, X2D and A2L can dry and feed from the same AMS 2 Pro once updated (minimum firmware: H2D 01.03.00.00, H2S 01.02.00.00, P2S 01.02.00.00, X2D 01.01.00.00, A2L 01.01.00.00). The drying temperature drops automatically to stay below the softening point of what you're printing: drying PETG while printing PLA runs at 45 °C. Other models don't support it yet, so dry in a unit that isn't feeding the print.
  • Pull PLA and TPU before a hot cycle. ABS and PETG drying temperatures soften PLA and TPU, so take those spools out first. A PLA cycle is safe for everything else in the unit.
  • Rotate for the best result. Pull the filament back onto the spool and tick "Rotate spool while drying": the spool turns 30° every 5 minutes for even heat.
  • Check the filament type first. Spools without RFID show "?" and dry on PLA settings until you edit them.
  • Mind the room temperature. The full 65 °C needs a room at 25 °C or warmer. In a cold workshop, expect a lower drying temperature.
  • Always connected. Drying only runs with the AMS 2 Pro linked to a powered-on printer by its 6-pin bus cable. It can't dry standalone.

About this product

Will the AMS 2 Pro plug straight into my A1, or do I need extra parts?
Not straight in. On X1/P1 the AMS 2 Pro connects with 6-pin and 4-pin bus cables plus a filament buffer/hub and PTFE tubing, all sold separately. For A1-family printers it doesn't attach natively at all — Bambu's A1/A1 Mini/A2L lineup runs on the AMS Lite, and getting an AMS 2 Pro onto an A1 requires a Filament Hub accessory rather than a direct connection. Confirm your printer and accessory list before ordering.
How many filaments can I actually run with the AMS 2 Pro?
Each AMS 2 Pro unit feeds up to 4 filaments. Because the units are scalable, you can chain multiple AMS 2 Pro modules together to manage up to 24 spools total across a print, per Bambu's official spec. That's a big jump from a single 4-color setup, but remember each additional unit is a separate purchase plus the bus cables and hub hardware to link them.
What does the Active Drying feature actually do, and how well does it work?
The AMS 2 Pro has a built-in heater that reaches up to 65°C with airtight storage to keep spools dry between and during prints. Community reports on Bambu's forum show real-world results vary: some users dry PETG from 55% to under 10% RH in around 6 hours, while others say a full moisture bake can take closer to 48 hours for stubborn filaments. Expect it to slow moisture absorption significantly, not make filament immune to humidity indefinitely.
Do I need Bambu's own power adapter, or will any USB-C/DC adapter work?
You need the official Bambu Lab power adapter specifically — it's required for the drying function to work, and Bambu is explicit that third-party adapters aren't supported. Using one isn't just a performance downgrade; it voids the warranty and any resulting damage isn't covered. Budget for the official adapter as part of your setup cost if it's not already in your box.
I have an H2D — does the AMS 2 Pro's drying work the same way?
Partially. On H2D, the printer can power one AMS 2 Pro's drying function at a time, so if you're running multiple units, only one dries actively while connected to that printer. X1E owners should note Bambu lists drying support there as still under testing as of this listing, so don't assume full functionality until it's officially confirmed for your specific model.
My AMS 2 Pro isn't feeding filament reliably — what should I check first?
Start with the spool itself: badly wound spools and tangled loops are among the most common causes of AMS feed jams according to Bambu's community, so rewind the outer few meters by hand before loading. Next check for a deformed or curled filament tip — cutting 10-15cm off the end fixes a surprising number of feed failures — and inspect the Hall sensor for dust buildup, since a dirty sensor is another frequent, easy-to-miss culprit.
Will third-party filament spools work in the AMS 2 Pro, or is it Bambu-only?
Physically, many third-party spools do fit, but RFID auto-detection only works with genuine Bambu Lab spools — third-party filament needs to be set up manually in Bambu Studio or on the printer. Cardboard-core spools are worth extra caution: they're a common source of AMS jams because dust and fraying edges can block the rollers, so a plastic-core spool is generally the safer pick for this system.
